Four Characteristics of a Life of Faithfulness

Why is it that some people seem to overcome and walk in God’s blessing while others seem to struggle? How is it that some people grow deeper and deeper with God and others plateau spiritually or stagnate?

I have discovered that those who are overcoming and growing deeper with God know something and do something that others do not. Overcomers have some common characteristics!

What if you could develop the major characteristics necessary for walking in God’s favor and living the victorious life He desires for you? Today, I want you to know the four major characteristics that will position you to receive God’s best.

The Lord has given me a prophetic word for you this year saying, “The faithful shall flourish and it shall be like days of heaven on earth.”

Don’t miss that. The Lord specifically said “The faithful shall flourish.” Do you qualify? Are you faithful? Proverbs 28:20 tells us, “A faithful man shall abound with blessings…”

That’s FLOURISHING!

So the question is, if you’re going to flourish, what are the major characteristics of a life of faithfulness?

I want to share with you four major characteristics that I’ve discovered that are common in faithful people.

First Characteristic – Loyalty to God

We are told in Deuteronomy 6:5 to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

Sometimes we get the idea that some of the instruction in the Bible is more of a suggestion than a command. But the truth is that you do not get to pick and choose what you like and don’t like in Scripture.

You must be willing to “go all out” for God and hold nothing back. Joshua 24:14 tells us to “…serve him in sincerity.”

You cannot serve two masters and, besides, God will not accept a divided heart!

Second Characteristic – Adhere To God’s Word

James 1:22 tells us to, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Being a “hearer only” is referred to as mental assent… you acknowledge that the Word is true but you never act on it!

James goes on to say in verse 25 that the person who is a doer of the Word, “…will be blessed in what he does.”

Do you truly want to be blessed? Then it takes more than just reading the Word and more than knowing the Word. It requires DOING THE WORD!

I like to say, “Give the Word first place in your life and make it final authority.”

Ask yourself this question in every situation: “What does the Word Say?” And then, do it.

Third Characteristic – Be Constant and Unwavering

The author of the Book of Hebrews encourages us in chapter 10, verse 23 saying, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

Wavering is a guaranteed way for you to miss out on God’s best. Determine now that you will not compromise. No matter the challenges, no matter the setbacks, no matter how impossible it may seem, refuse to back down!

James warns us in chapter 1, verses 6 and 7, “…he that wavers is like a wave on the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

People that aren’t constant and people that waver never experience God’s best.

Fourth Characteristic – Be a Consistent Sower

A life of faithfulness includes, always giving God access to your finances and your material possessions. In fact, every breakthrough and victory I have experienced has been the resulting harvest of seeds that I previously sowed.

It makes no sense to me how some people are waiting around for a harvest but didn’t first plant the seeds needed to produce the harvest.

I know the idea of giving is contrary to the way the world thinks. The natural response to a need is not to give something away. Most people would respond by trying to keep everything they can.

But Proverbs 11:24-25 says, “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Being a consistent giver will position you to experience the abundance, blessing, and flourishing God said is being poured out this year to the faithful.

I love to give! It is the greatest joy.

In fact, last year, this ministry gave away over one million dollars to help people, train pastors, and support missions. And your giving made that possible.

It’s because of you and other faithful partners, that this ministry is enabled to proclaim the good news of Jesus around the world.

This month as you give, I will send you my complete message of Four Characteristics of a Life of Faithfulness. I go step by step how these characteristic have worked in my life.

You can give securely and conveniently at www.jsmiaustralia.org/offering

Giving is one of the greatest joys you will ever know…and it also opens your life to more of God’s blessing.

If you will commit to developing these characteristics in your life, you will step into the abundant life Jesus came to offer you!

Praying for you to flourish this year.

In Him,

Jerry Savelle

P.S. The faithfulness that God blesses requires a long-term commitment. Too many people give up when things get tough or don’t go their way. If you find yourself feeling discouraged, remember the instruction in Galatians 6:9 that says, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” (TLB) Don’t quit now. Your victory is on the way!
