Seizing Opportunities of Favor

Have you ever hesitated and missed an opportunity? Many people are not even aware they had an opportunity until it has already passed.

What if right now God has placed an opportunity in your life for His blessing? Would you recognize it and seize it? Or would it pass right by without you ever noticing?

The Lord spoke to me a few months ago saying His favor is what produces the opportunities in our lives for Him to bless us. I’m writing to you today to share with you two keys to
seizing the opportunities to prosper which the favor of God produces for you.

I have found in my 44 years of ministry that the favor of God is an untapped spiritual reservoir for most Christians. Many Christians never recognize the opportunities that God’s
favor is bringing them.

That doesn’t have to be the case for you! Let’s remember what God said to Abraham regarding His favor. In Genesis 12:2, He said, “I will bless you with abundant increase of
favors” (AMP). Notice that it’s favors plural and not favor singular.

Favors plural would imply many opportunities will come our way and not just a single opportunity!

I recall many years ago when Oral Roberts was in my house and told me, “Miracles are coming your way every day. You either attract them or they pass you by.”

Think about Bartimeaus in the Bible. Even though he was blind, he could see an opportunity for healing (Luke 18:35-43; Mark 10:46-52). It’s quite possible that Jesus would have
continued right on by had Bartimaeus not cried out to him and “attracted him.”

You could say that he “seized his opportunity!”

The first key to seizing opportunities in your life is being in the right place at the right time.

If Bartimaeus had been at home feeling sorry for himself he never would have encountered Jesus. He never would have been in the presence of God or had the opportunity to receive his
sight.

But it is very important that you are sensitive to your surroundings.

I want you to understand that even though Bartimaeus was in the right place at the right time, he still could have missed his opportunity if he had not been sensitive to what was available
to him at that very moment.

The second key to seizing an opportunity is being sensitive to the situation and recognizing it.

For instance, think about the man who sat daily at the gate of the temple called “Beautiful” as recorded in the third chapter of the Book of Acts. This man had been crippled from birth
and his daily routine was to be carried to that gate so that he could beg.

The gate called “Beautiful” was inside the Temple area on the eastern side. According to Jewish historian, Josephus, it was made of Corinthian brass and was so large that it took twenty men to close it. This is where this man was brought daily.

During His three years of ministry, do you think Jesus probably passed through that gate a few times? Sure He did! Then don’t you suppose He passed by this man since he was placed
there daily?

Then why wasn’t the man healed then? Apparently, he never “attracted Jesus” like Bartimaeus did.

He was in the right place at the right time but he was insensitive to his surroundings. He never saw the opportunity to receive his healing (or blessing and favor from God).

That’s the story of so many of God’s people today!

I knew a lot of young ministers who had the same “opportunity” that I had when I first started out 44 years ago—but you don’t hear anything about them today. Where are they? What are they doing?

Stop making excuses! Start being more sensitive to what God is endeavoring to do for you and begin to recognize the opportunities that His favor is bringing your way!

The Bible says that God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). That means He shows no partiality. If He did it for someone else, He will do it for you. Since He did it for me, I know He will do it for you!

His favor on your life will produce opportunities for you just as much as it does for me.

The only difference between me and many others is that God’s favor is a revelation to me and I have learned to rely upon it every day.

And you can do the same! The more you study favor and confess favor over your life, the bigger the revelation will be for you.

Let me ask you the same question I opened this letter with. Have you ever missed an opportunity? Of course you have! So have I.

But let me encourage you, you are not limited to one opportunity. God’s favor in your life will produce an abundance of opportunities.

We can see this once again with the story of the crippled man at the gate “Beautiful.” Even though he didn’t seize his miracle when Jesus passed by, he did when Peter and John passed by telling him to stand to his feet (Acts 3).

He got his breakthrough and so can you! Begin declaring that you are surrounded with opportunities to prosper and to succeed (Psalm 5:12). Declare that the blessing of God on your life empowers you to prosper and the favor of God on your life produces the opportunities to make it happen!

Boldly claim Psalm 37:23 that your steps are ordered by the Lord and that you are in the right place at the right time! Become more determined than ever to follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

I truly believe He’s going to order your steps and cause you to be in the right place at the right time and enable you to seize another opportunity to prosper and to succeed!

One of the best ways to know if you are positioned in the right place for a blessing is by examining where you spend or invest your money. Jesus said in Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Generously supporting the work of the Gospel is one of the best ways to get in position to be in the right place at the right time for God’s blessing.

I can humbly say that for over 44 years this ministry has had a track record of being good ground to sow into. My wife, Carolyn, and I have stayed pure and we operate this ministry with integrity. I believe God has honored our commitment to Him by sending us such great friends and partners like you.

I join my faith with you, that as you continue to give and support our worldwide outreaches, you will have an abundance of opportunities to prosper! I have seen it happen in my life and the lives of our partners. I stand with you to see it happen in your life as well!

In Him,

Jerry Savelle
