Maybe you can relate to my story. When I first surrendered my life to Christ way back in 1969 and began this adventure in faith, my life was a wreck.

My marriage was hanging on by a thread. We were in debt and barely getting by. On top of that, I was a quitter. When things would get tough I’d always look for the path of least resistance.

I felt like a failure. A nobody.

I’m so thankful for God’s grace and goodness! When Christ came into my life, He turned everything around! What I discovered is that God is a master at making champions out of nobodies!

In those early years, one of the first truths I learned was about the favor of God. As I read Scripture, the Word of God came alive in me regarding God’s favor showing up and changing impossible situations. Because of that, even during those times of hardships and challenges, I began to have confidence that God was going to show up and cause the impossible to become possible.

I want to encourage you today to begin believing that you will see God’s favor and goodness revealed in your life just as I did.

I don’t know the exact situations you’re facing, but I do know that the psalmist David faced

some impossible looking circumstances and many of the Psalms are about hopeless situation that weighed on him heavily.

One of the keys to his victory (and yours) is found in Psalm 27:13 where he says, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” The Berean Study Bible says, “Still I am certain I will see the goodness of the Lord…”

I know that sometimes it can seem hopeless. Sometimes it’s easy to think about quitting. In those times, you just have to talk yourself into winning! No matter what you’re facing or how impossible the situation may seem, be assured that if you stay focused, you will see the goodness of God!

David, experiencing a tough time in his life, asked himself this question: “Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues?” Then he makes this demand of himself: “Fix my eyes on God – soon I’ll be praising again…When my soul is in the dumps, I rehearse everything I know [about God]…” (Psalm 42:5-6 Message Translation)

This is where so many of God’s people miss it – they keep talking about how bad it is and the likelihood of it getting worse, when they should be talking the Word!

When the pressure of your circumstances start wearing on you, begin rehearsing how God has brought you out in the past and boldly declare, “If He’s done it before, then He can do it again!”

That’s what David did and that’s what every genuine person of faith does. In Psalm 56:13 he declares, “For thou hast delivered my soul from death, wilt thou not deliver my feet from falling…”

Don’t ever stop trusting God.
He’s not in the habit of letting His people down!
Keep believing that you will see His goodness.

While in prison and facing death, Paul said, “For I know this shall turn to my salvation…” (Philippians 1:19).

He would not give up hope that something good was going to happen to him.

Likewise, no matter what you may be going through, never give up hope that you’ll experience God’s goodness on the other side of your adversity!

In Genesis 50 we read about Joseph being reunited with his brothers years after they sold him into slavery. When he tells them he forgives them, he also says, “You planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good” (Genesis 50:20).

It’s the same when your adversary, the devil launches attacks against you – God will turn what Satan meant for bad and turn it into something good!

However, most of God’s people never experience the good thing that God wanted to do simply because they give up too quickly.

When you feel like giving up, remind yourself of what Hebrews 10:35-36 in the Message says, “It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.”
