Do you realize the importance of receiving and holding fast to a prophetic word from God in the Year of the Maximum? When God reveals His plan for you, it brings clarity, purpose, and determination into your life. 

Without God’s prophetic word in your life, you will be grasping at straws trying to do what you think is best, instead of knowing what God has prepared for you.  Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” Another translation says, “Without a prophetic Oracle from God, the people cast off restraint.” 

Without receiving and holding fast to a prophetic word from God, you have nothing that keeps you motivated or focused, and you just accept anything that comes down the road. You accept the lies that the media says. You accept the lies that religious-minded people say. You accept the lies that the devil says. 

When you have a prophetic Oracle from God, a specific word from God, it creates a vision on the inside of you. That vision will motivate you. It causes you to get up in the morning with a smile on your face and with purpose in your step.

The prophetic word gives you a target to focus your faith on in accordance with God’s will and plan for your life. You can go through the day knowing that no matter what’s happening around you, God has given you a vision and it’s just a matter of time until that vision comes to pass.

How do you receive and hold fast to a prophetic word? 

My answer may surprise you. It’s simple, but so many people don’t do it. What is it? Simply write the prophetic word down and reread it often. 

This biblical principle is revealed in Habakkuk 2:2 where it says, “Then the Lord answered me and said: ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.’” 

When I first started in ministry, I didn’t understand prophetic words. Growing up my family went to church and believed in Jesus for salvation, but we didn’t know about the Holy Spirit, healing, or anything about prophetic ministry. 

Carolyn was exposed to the charismatic movement early on in her church, and after we married, I began to learn about the deeper things of God at that church. 

It was in that church on December 31, 1969, that I received a prophetic word from the Lord. They had what they called a “prophetic watch night” to ring in the New Year. It was all strange to me. I didn’t understand what that meant but I trusted Carolyn and she said we needed to be there. 

That night, Pastor Jack Moore invited a special guest minister considered to be a prophet. After worship, preaching, and testimonies they began to pray over people and prophesy over them. It was all new to me. They invited all the men to come forward to be prayed over. 

So, I walked up there, the prophet and the pastor laid their hands on my head and the prophet said, “Airplanes, airplanes, airplanes.” And Pastor Moore said, “Yes, Jerry, fly, fly, fly.” This happened three times and I walked away thinking that I didn’t have a clue what this meant. 

I walked back to Carolyn and said, “What did all that mean?” She said, “Sounds to me like you’re going to spend the rest of your life in airplanes, airplanes, airplanes and you’re going to fly, fly, fly.” Now, I didn’t know at that time that God was referring to our own ministry owning airplanes.

The next day, January 1, 1970, I was praying and the Lord told me to journal everything He said to me. So, I wrote in that journal, “Airplanes, airplanes, airplanes, fly, fly, fly.”

The Lord said to me, “What I meant was you will not be able to fulfill what I’ve called you to do without airplanes in your ministry.” He said, “Start believing for them now, when you don’t need them, and when you do need them, they’ll be there.” And He also added that they would be debt-free!

So, I wrote all that down. And I started believing right there that one day my ministry will demand airplanes. And I believe that they will be debt-free airplanes. Now, that didn’t happen immediately! But, as the ministry grew, I couldn’t make it to all the places I was being asked to minister.

That was TEN debt-free airplanes ago! 

There has been many times over the years that I’ve gone back to that journal to reread, refocus, and restrengthen my faith for what God told me. 

I now have journals in my archive that cover over 50 years of my life. Why? Without a vision, the people perish. Without a prophetic Oracle from God, the people cast off restraint. In other words, if I did not have that prophetic word from that prophet and my pastor, then I would never have the vision for debt-free airplanes. I went back to that journal time and time again. Not that I ever forgot it, but because I was restating what I’m believing.

Habakkuk 2:2 tells you to write the vision, the next verse says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

Now I’m saying all that for this purpose. I’m teaching you how important it is to receive a prophetic word. And once you do, don’t let anybody talk you out of it. 

Don’t settle for anything less than ALL that God has for you. Let me say that again, once you receive that prophetic Oracle from God that’s designed to create a vision, don’t let anybody talk you out of it, and don’t give up on it.

The question you must ask yourself is, am I willing to wait for it? Are you willing to wait for your vision to come to pass? A lot of Christians are not, and that’s the reason why they very seldom see these things come to pass in their lives. 

I’m not a quitter. I refuse to quit, particularly when I know I’ve heard from God. Nobody can talk me out of it, I’m going to hold fast to it until it comes to pass.

The psalmist declared, “May [God] grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions” (Psalm 20:4-5 ESV).

That sounds like maximum to me. All is the highest level attainable. 

Why would you settle for some of your plans succeeding when God promises He’ll cause all your plans to succeed? Why would you settle for some of your petitions being granted when He says He’ll grant all your petitions? Why would you settle for some of the desires of your heart being fulfilled when He promises they will all be fulfilled?

All means maximum. All means the highest level attainable. 

I’m going for the maximum. I’m not settling for anything less. And I want you to come with me. Let’s go to the highest level attainable. 

Let’s stop being satisfied with bones when we can have the steak. I don’t want some of your plans to succeed. I want all of them to succeed. Psalm 34:19 reveals that “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” Regardless of what you may be facing right now, God has victory planned for you. 

I pray you will receive this prophetic word and hold fast to it. Don’t settle for less. Refuse to let anyone or any circumstance talk you out of it. It may take some time, but it will surely come to pass.
