Refusing to Give Up

What is God doing in your life right now? Not two years ago or five years ago…right now. If God never did anything else for me, I still would be eternally grateful. But I also know that the best is yet to come!

You must always be grateful for what God has done, but where is your faith to see Him move today?

I want to share with you one of the greatest keys to experiencing God’s power in my life.

Before God transformed my life, I was the biggest quitter you ever met. Nothing was working in my life. My wife, Carolyn, and I were in debt, discouraged, and our marriage was barely hanging on.

When I first surrendered my life to Christ, I told God I was a nobody but if He’d have me, I’d serve Him. God spoke to me in that moment and said, “That’s OK, I’m a master at making champions out of nobodies!”

For nearly fifty years I’ve been teaching people how to win in life and inspiring them to believe for God’s best. And I’m writing you today because I want you to experience in YOUR life the goodness of God that I have in my life!

This year God has given me a prophetic word declaring that now is the time for God’s glory to be revealed in your life. Studying God’s glory, I have discovered that throughout Scripture God’s glory is often referred to as His manifested presence, power, and goodness at work in your life.

I know God has done amazing things in your life just as He has in mine. I also know that He is not done! It’s time for you to apply your faith and believe for God’s glory to manifest in your life today like never before.

One of the greatest keys I’ve discovered to experiencing God’s glory is becoming steadfast and refusing to give up regardless of how impossible it seems, how tired I am, or how long it may take.

If you want to see God’s glory, you’re going to have to refuse to give up during times of adversity!

David wrote in the Psalms, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13).

What’s he saying? Without faith to expect to see God’s goodness (manifested glory), he would have quit! He goes on to instruct us to, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord” (Psalm 27:14)!

Do you want to see the glory? Then don’t quit! Maybe you’re thinking, “But Brother Jerry, it’s so hard and I don’t think I can hold on any longer.” Yes, you can!

You are not a quitter! You don’t give up when things get tough! You serve a God that is greater than the challenges you face. No amount is too great, no report too bleak, and no schedule too late. You serve the God who delights in doing the impossible!

Look at Moses and the children of Israel. They escaped the captivity of Egypt but once they reached the Red Sea they were trapped by the water. It looked as though it was all over for them. When it all looked hopeless, Moses spoke by God’s power saying, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord…” (Exodus 14:13).

In other words, DON’T GIVE UP! Giving up is never the right choice to make.

The same is true in your life today. God’s miracle breakthrough is on the way and if you stand your ground, you will see God’s presence, power, and goodness!

The next verse gives us the vital advice, “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace” (Exodus 14:14). The Message translation says, “God will fight for you. And you, you keep your mouths shut! ”

That might be the most important thing that you’ll ever hear! Most Christians just can’t keep their mouths shut when they’re facing adversity and the pressure is on.

Way back in 1969, I was new to the Word of God and was struggling to walk by faith. So I asked Kenneth Copeland why things weren’t working in my life and he said, “Jerry, your problem is your big mouth. You need to learn the vocabulary of silence.” And then he said, “If you can’t talk the Word, then shut up.”

That’s not what I wanted to hear, but he was right! Once I learned how to “bridle my tongue” (James 3:1-9) things began to change in my life!

If you want to see the glory of God when facing adversity, then first of all learn to put a guard over your mouth. If you can’t talk the Word, then shut up.

Before I close this letter, let’s go back to Exodus and see the next verse as Moses and the people of Israel are trapped at the Red Sea. Moses then asked God what to do now, and God said, “…Tell the children of Israel to go forward.” (Exodus 14:15).

Whatever you’re facing today, retreating is never God’s plan! Most Christians fail to see the glory manifesting simply because they give up too quickly.

The author of Hebrews encourages you to, “Not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you” (Hebrews 10:35)!

Now is not the time to shrink back or quit. Refusing to give up is vital for you to see God’s glory!

I recently preached a powerful message about this titled, Refusing To Give Up , and I want to get it into your hands…and into your heart! In this teaching resource I’m making available this month, I go into far greater detail about the keys I have put into practice that have caused me to see God’s Glory time and again.

When you give and support the outreaches of this ministry this month, I will send you this teaching resource as my thank you for believing in God’s call on my life. You can give securely and conveniently at www.jsmiaustralia.org/offering or by calling +61 7 5576 5534.

I’m standing with you and have great expectation for God’s presence, power, and goodness to be manifested in your life!

In Him,
